Marisma is an independent printed magazine about culture and travel, bilingual Spanish-English. The first issue, published in 2026, introduces us to Andalucía.
The magazine aims to distance itself from the idyllic and functional approach of traditional travel guides, using an intimate and emotional narrative that shines a light on the people and stories of a region. Our ambition is to become a source of inspiration that encourages a more human and less materialistic concept of tourism.
We want to provide a more holistic, contemporary and realistic perspective of the culture of different places, attempting to enrich their collective imagination and creating a platform to reflect on concepts such as the identity of a territory, cultural appropriation and stereotypes.
Marisma starts out focusing on Spanish culture at a regional level, while remaining open to exploring cultures of other countries in the future.

Manifesto
- Marisma (Spanish for tidal marsh) acts as a metaphor for a country’s culture: a biodiverse ecosystem that is variable, where migratory birds mix with sweet and salty waters.
- Marisma is against mass tourism, and wants to promote a model of travel that is more human, patient and intellectual, less consumerist.
- Marisma does not support nationalist narratives, or confrontations between regions and countries. We aim to break down boundaries between identities, gathering people together around a culture that is heterogeneous and plural.
- Any region or province represented has many more stories than Marisma is able to cover in a single edition. We don’t want to simplify, standardise or build generalisations about any territory.
- The project wants to move away from the trend of being hyper-aesthetic, and towards more honest realities.
- We invite you to underline sections, fold pages and take the magazine with you, whether it be to the mountains or the beach. Marisma is a magazine to be experienced.
